I would like to replace mine - any suggestions where to get the hardware. The PO took out the old one and screwed a peice of pexiglass in it's place.

Time for a new gasket

Eight years later, the solardome is holding out well. The sealing gasket... not so much, and it has already been replaced once.

The original gasket measures 1" wide by 1/2" thick, and, while six feet of it would only cost ~$4.20, appears to be only available from a source with a $20 minimum order PLUS ~$20 shipping charge.

17 feet of the same gasket material, albeit a quarter-inch narrower, is available from another source for about $20 delivered.

Since the solardome's sealing surface is only about a 1/4" wide, I have gambled $20 & ordered the substitution.

I'll keep you posted on how it works out.

Tom

Okay, the new gasket material came in the other day, and it looks just like OEM other than being 1/4" narrower. I think it will work just fine as long as I am not clumsy about its placement.

I went to install it in preparation of our July 4th trip, and found that the old foam was in good shape other than the double-sided sticky tape succumbing uV.

I cheated & replaced the tape; will let you know how many rounds it goes.

No Problem

Well, I am just plain lazy - Here it is November, and the new gasket was just installed this past weekend. The Solardome is now weather-tight as well as one of the overhead vent fan covers.

Sealing was not a problem. The only issue is that the glueprint of the wider-than-it-needed-to-be original gasket is visible if one cares to stare straight up with a flashlight.

Success has been declared.

Hehr Lifters on Solardome

On this subject, my dome cover is attached with two Ladue vent lifters. One of them broke off on the outer side ..looks like it lost a nut over the bracket.
Do these new solardomes have the brackets in them for the lifters, or do I take the brackets off the old one.

My Solardome did not include any hardware. All metal parts needed were recycled from the old one.

Yep, thanks. I found out today when I pulled off the old one I would need to unscrew the brackets that the lifters insert into.
They seem to press in and that's all. Not sure why one popped out, but it got loose and that brought me back to this project. Started thinking about it two years ago. Other stuff got in the way.
Guess I will hit up Inland rv and order the smoky grey one.

Oddly (to me) Andy badgered me about getting the translucent version.

I have never regretted my purchase.

maybe I will get a discount on the grey- free shipping would be nice

The old dome lasted almost 50 years. IT finally cracked when a limb fell on it. My temporary repair last 2 years. But it was only a short term fix, I knew that going in.
We sat through hurricane like winds and rain in Florida for a day plus recently, and the messed up dome did not leak. Water did come in a one point through my refrigerator vent as the wind came from that the side of the trailer and pushed water over the vent and in. It was quite a mess as it rolled out from under the fridge.

Just ordered the IRV dome. Can't believe they get $55 to ship it.
I shipped an electric guitar for less that that!

Scalped!

Sorry to hear of the shipping charges. I ordered one from IRV years ago and it didn't fit. I sent it back. Ordered one from Colin Hyde and it fit perfectly plus I liked the product so much better. Good luck with your solardome.

it has been 3 weeks since my order went in and still not received. I emailed and got no reply. I guess I made a mistake ordering from Inland RV..
Be forewarned.

Have you tried calling? In my experience, they answer the phone at Inland.
