Warranty????

Airstream Inc. ("Airstream") warrants that it will repair or replace defects in material or workmanship in any components of a new Airstream trailer purchased from an authorized Airstream dealer in the United States or Canada for a period of twenty-four (24) months from the date the trailer is first delivered to the original retail purchaser.

So in other words, If my dealer recieved my Airstream in October 2009 and I didn't take delivery until February 2010 my warranty expires October 2011.

Am I reading this right?

Thanks,

Shane

reading? i dunno.

interpreting, no.

warranty starts with purchase/INSERVICE/delivery date, like almost every new vehicle in the usofa.

the apprarent CHANGE for 2010 is that appliances will only be serviced by the a/s dealers for 1 year...

after that, any remaining MANUFACTURER's warranty issues are to be handled by 'authorized' service center for THAT appliance.

prior to 2010 models a/s dealers AND the factory service center would deal with the gadgets and appliances for 2 years.

u might need to CONFIRM these variations with the dealer or a/s warranty support.

cheers

Never-owned units held by a dealer don't have the warranty clock ticking. Warranty begins only on the titled 'sold-on' date. And then it runs for 2 years.

Don't be in a hurry. Use your new Airstream and use it well. Some things will emerge only after you've had it bouncing down the road for a full season. I finished my warranty work about 14 months after I purchased my '06.

Whats throwing me off is this phrase "delivered to the original retail purchaser"

Wouldn't the original retail purchaser be my dealer because the buy them from Airsteam and resale them to the consumer <me>.

Again am I interpreting this wrong?

Shane, Your dealer is the wholesale purchaser who retailed it to you. If you are the first person to buy it from your dealer then you are the "original retail purchaser". Your warranty is for two years from the date you took delivery.

That sounds like a 'Georgia Flooded Airstreams' clause to me. You're fine, man! Chill...

Shane.

You need a vacation, or maybe a couple of cool ones.

Any dealer, of what ever, is a "wholesale" buyer.

The general public, is the "retail" buyer.

The Airstream has been originally registered to you, NOT A DEALER.

Therefore, the warranty period starts with your purchase date. A dealer could have an Airstream on his lots for years, but the warranty does not start, until it is sold to a retail buyer, like you.

The dealer is NOT a retail customer. You or I are retail customers.

As with Bobstream, we spent almost two years getting stuff fixed under warranty. Except the batteries -- this one we'll try to negotiate with the dealer before-hand if we ever buy another Airstream. We did ask the dealer about batteries, since we believed our Airstream was on the dealer's lot over 18 months before we rescued it.

The dealer told us, "we take the batteries for each A/S out, put them on the shelf, and match the batteries back up with the respective A/S when we sell it."

Bad plan for us -- our batteries were pretty poor when we bought the A/S. Took them to Interstate Batteries a few months later when one battery finally fizzled out completely. Interstate told us, "This battery is over two years old -- we can only give you pro-rated replacement coverage."

Maybe I should have driven to Jackson Center with the battery? Nah, not worth it.

But Jackson Center took care of all the other things we listed, and we visited there twice to get the stuff cared for. Pretty nice, we think. Sure, it isn't a lifetime warranty. Two years is plenty of time to shake out issues with your Airstream, though.

Brain TOOT, sorry guys.

I WAS under the impression <from my salesman> when we talked about transferrable warranties that the Airstream is transferrable Twice. He stated that was from them to me. The other was when they bought it from Airstream.

Understand my reasoning now?

Geez guys, put the whips away.

Do not believe what salesmen say.

It's Tuesday and sometimes you have to take your turn being whipped; on another day, you get to use the whip. It's fair and balanced.
