Use/Store Button, Assistance

I have tried to search and very difficult.

What does it do and how do you use the switch?

I have no clue.

How should I treat the button. Believe it or not this is the... First time since buying our 2010 "Stream" we are actually going to let it sit over 2 weeks without any use.

As long as nothing needs to be "on", such as the fridge, just switch it off. If it's going to not be used for more than, say, 30 days, you should unhook the batteries as well. there are some parasitic draws that aren't turned off with the use/store switch.

In summer temperatures it is perfectly okay to let it go 4-6 weeks with it unplugged and in 'Store' status. See http://www.airforums.com/forums/f449...age-46718.html. Your more critical issue would be if extended storage let it discharge significantly; eg, below 45% for lead-acid and different figures not at the tip of my tongue for AGM...

You'll note -- plugged in, you cannot get the HAL-9000 eye to go out.

Therefore you cannot get it into store status. It will take perfectly good care of itself if unplugged and left dormant for weeks or a month.

There are a few but only minor parasitic draws in 'Store' status; eg, the LP detector. Take-home point -- it will easily be healthy 4-6 weeks after being put in 'Store.' Before camping, I pull mine into the driveway 1-2 days before, plug it in, and start the fridge to get it cooling down. The batteries top off. Better then! Because recharging through the umbilical while towing is a very inefficient process -- little accomplished after 200 miles and maybe not fully recharged after much more.

Wow, 2air, how do you do this? You're like, the encyclopediac or something. Do you do thread searches to populate your answers, or do you just know where all this stuff is? Just amazing to see your helpful links to related prior threads.

Our Store button thinks it's related to retail something or other. I guess we should treat it like we do our air conditioner -- run it once a quarter or so often to make sure the seals stay wet, right? Wouldn't want any of the stuff to get out of the store.

Michelle (catsandi?) posted a day or two about getting three magnetically held 12vdc relays, and I wished I'd asked her about the purpose and sequence of operation -- looked like a cool mod for her store button or something.

Anyway, the store button as factory installed is almost the knife switch to isolate the trailer from the batteries, but not quite. Like others have said, the phantom loads are still connected even with the "batteries off". So is the hitch jack and post light still connected.

So the knife switch is the ultimate "store button, completely disconnecting the batteries from the trailer. Or, just take the terminals off the batteries.

i am sure cats will clue us IN to what's planned for those gizmos...

she's got a classic and the classics do NOT have the store/use knob...

there is a 12 DISCONNECT switch on the face plate of her (classics) C/C box, under the sofa...

but it's not the same thing.

IF we keep watchn' her thread, we will all learn what's in store for relays...
