WOW!!

Just picked up our AS and other than a few loose screws and a light bulb that doesn't work, she's a dream!

The Ocean Breeze interior is great, but might be tough to keep clean in the wild

The quality on our unit seems pretty good.

Thanks to everyone for their advice on tow vehicles - hate to think what would have happened if we tried to bring it home with that little SUV we were going to use!!

Terrific. How about joining the gang at Casini Ranch next month and showing us the new model? It will be a good opportunity to get involved in the activities of the NoCal Forum group. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as we all will enjoy seeing what's new for 2007.

We just bought exactly the same model and have discovered a few problems, even before our first trip.

* The "premium" AV system didn't work properly - the first symptom was the lack of a video signal and low audio volume from the TV while playing a DVD. This turns out to be a pierced or crushed AV cable between the Sony player and the TV somewhere inside the wall. This is going to be a major problem since it will likely require dismounting a cabinet and tearing down part of the interior shell to remove the original cable and install a new one. Needless to say, Airstream is peeing in its pants over this one that should never have left Jackson Center if the AV system had been tested. It's going to be an expensive fix.

* We have a fresh water leak that occurs only on the road, possibly from sloshing in the tank or a wobbly plumbing joint. The local Airstream service center cannot find a problem after pressure-testing the tank, but (as I said) it happens only on the road. So far, AS has refused to pay for dropping the under pan to find the leak.

* The mirrored cabinet door in the bathroom detached from its hinge. This is a poorly engineered design that puts a huge strain on one corner of the door until the screws literally pop out of their holes. The poor design is in the door prop and its location - it makes a perfect fulcrum to apply leverage to the hinge using the weight of the door. In our case, the hinge was slightly bent too, indicating how much stress was on it. Luckily the damage is limited to the area underneath the hinge's footprint. I have reattached both hinges with #8 screws and solicited a second door prop for the right hand side that will greatly reduce the strain on the left hinge area.

* We found a missing rivet and a second one that stuck out about 1 cm in the bedroom. I keep wondering how a QC inspection could have missed the obvious. The local AS dealer fixed this.

Since we haven't used our 2007 25' CCD FB Ocean Breeze yet, except to pull it from one dealer's lot to home and then to another dealer's service department for warranty service, we probably have a few more problems to discover down the road.

On a positive note, our new AS is beautiful and seemingly much brighter and roomier than our 2006 Safari LE that we traded in for the 2007 CCD. We can hardly wait to hit the road and will be at Casini in April.

Was it raining when you were towing it? Ours had a mystery leak too. I did the night time light test, water test, nothing. Monsoon rain when it was parked, not a drop...tow it in the rain and water would be on the floor.

I finally figured out that the line folks didn't caulk my curb side wheel well very well.

Sealed it up with some caulk and life was good again.

No, it wasn't raining, but the trailer had been washed by the dealer right before we took delivery. We stopped to eat about an hour on the road and saw the water for the first time. I thought it might be water collected somehow from washing the AS. After returning from lunch, the water was still coming from underneath, but at a slower rate. When we got home a few hours later, the sensor showed the fresh water tank was one light segment lower and there was a small amount of water still leaking from underneath again. No other tanks had anything in them, and the fresh water tank was filled as part of the dealer's prep. Water doesn't leak if the trailer sits on a flat surface for sometime.

I'm wondering whether there is an overfill issue, but the tank was pressure tested so how could it have a simple leak?? It's not a critical situation at this point, but if leakage continues we will want AS to make it right.

Did you loss much money on that deal?

Actually, we didn't loose that much. We got an exceptional deal on the '06 Safari, so by trading her for the International, we didn't loose that much. Of course I would have rather not had any loss, but you know how hindsight is. When we purchased the Safari, we had never towed or done any RV camping of any kind. We didn't know if we'd enjoy or use it that much, so we didn't want to make a big investment up front. As it turned out we love it, and did a lot of research to find the best trailer for our needs the second time around. We hope this will be our last trailer. We had it out for a couple of weeks, and it was everything we hoped.

As it turns out we think the leak problem will be easily fixed by a tube of caulking. We believe rain and wash water managed to get into the belly which caused water to leak out of the rear when parked. Airstream has been very responsive about getting our television wiring fixed. Hopefuly that will be done in May while we're in Italy, and we'll come home to a 100% perfect trailer.
