Ok been waiting to Bring this up!!! SHARP counters

I bought a CCD Signature Series 2010 International 25' in February. I have been giving this some time and wanted to see if it's me, but apparently it's not, well in our family. It's about the corners on the night stand, kitchen counters and Kitchen table. Not exactly the corners it where the side meets the top. In other words the WHOLE edge of all the counter tops. They ARE VERY VERY sharp and Hazardous. My son/wife and me actually have SCARS on our havds from occasionally hitting these edges. I currently have a pretty nasty cut on my hand from last Thursday when I was reaching for my napkin, slipping from my lap, and trying to keep it from hitting the floor. I also have a scar on my hand from making up the bed. My wife and son also have similar cuts. Has anyone else had these problems? I don't think airstream would do anything about it but it's not like a kitchen with formica in your home, because the edges seem waaay sharp. Also beibg in such close quarters your more likely to come in contact with theses edges... It's like leaving sharp knives on all the counters, which I'd never do.

Any advice would be appreciated,

Shane

Wouldn't this be a warranty issue?

We have a 22 ft 2003 which also had very sharp edges along the laminate edge surfaces. The only place it was really a problem was the dinette top. Honestly, we just lived with it and learned to be careful. Over time the edges did seem to smooth out or maybe we just got used to them.

This summer we replaced the laminate on the dinette, top of the refrigerator cabinet and the small shelf at the entrance. These new edges are not sharp like the originals were.

Trade it in on a Classic, the Corian edges are rounded. Also the edges on the hickory table tops are sanded to not be sharp.

Well, I'm just a vintage owner, but if I bought a new trailer and my family was getting their hands sliced up in it, I would say that's something they should fix! You shouldn't pay that much for a trailer and then have to go re-finish all the edges to avoid wounds. At the very least I'd let them know about it, because this is the sort of thing that is killing their reputation as a high-quality brand.

Most of getting things covered by warranty is the attitude of the dealer. I agree with most of the others, this is a warranty issue. I would call the dealer and work with them for a solution.

Thanks, but no Thanks, I love my interior Aluminium walls. The Classics is just a little too old fashoned for me.

Hi, my trailer has one sharp edge by my stove top, but we sendom ever hit it. This is not a warranty issue; It is a poor design issue.

I emailed Airstream. Just didn't think of contacting Airstream. Liek always, I'm sure they will make it right.

I DO NOT WANT THIS TO TURN INTO A AIRSTREAM BASHING THREAD. Not my intention.

So please stop now. I just wanted to see if it's just me or has anyone else had the issues. This is not a huge issue with me, lets not make it one, ok?

Airstream is a great trailer and the Company has always treated me like a King. Addressed and fixed even the most minor of cosmetic issues I've had.

I will keep you guys posted on the outcome.

Still would invite others to share their expeirences with this issue.
Thanks.

Shane

You can likely go over all of these edges with a router and a chamfer bit set to make a small (1/16") chamfer on the edge and it should resolve the problem and still look nice.

The edges are sharp, but we just adjusted to it. A little fine sandpaper would help. Try it on an out of the way edge. Otherwise these trailers are great! zz
