I Don't want that smell to go away!!!!
Everytime I walk in my Stream I smell that new smell..probably formaldyhde <sp>. It reminds me of all the times I've been away. camping. Then later on in the evening camps that gets mixed with campfire smoke and love it even more. Then, I bring her home and park her in the driveway,,,and sure enough about 3 days later the smoke is gone and the smell is back....It's like a new car smell. Which does not last long in cars. Coming close to a year and it's still there. Hope it never goes away.
Anyone buy new or close to new and lost that "smell" ?
How long will it last?
Shane

Ohh Shane! Goes to show we see posts from both sides of the coin here.
Without all the soft plastics a car has, one thing I haven't seen is that plasticizers/volatiles film window haze like we see continue for a long time in cars. Small comfort...

Ahh, the smell of phthalates in the morning.
The problem with phthalates is that our bodies treat them identically to the hormone estrogen, which can cause some strange problems with high exposure.
Phthalates are used to soften plastics and keep them flexible.

Shane, I have a 05 safari 30 that I travel in alot. We have cooked bacon, had campfires and whatever else in and it still smells new inside. We keep it clean and at the end of each trip we do a through clean out. Almost 5 years old and still feels new!!

Hmmmm, never had that problem with my '78 Argosy. smile I just worked to get the 30 + yrs of "old" smellls out of her by putting a new floor down and getting rid of all the fabrics that had disintegrated. Enjoy your "new" smell for another year. jjustice

I have a Mac, so I don't need to get a new computer as often as the PC users out there
I have too much free time, that's the real problem!

Same here. My trailer has a rather pleasant 'vintage funk' that I don't mind at all (putting in the new floor and fixing the black tank leak knocked it down a notch). Now it just smells like my Airstream to me!

If you have all that free time, why aren't you camping???
I would be gone in a heartbeat if I wasn't working.
I've got a new trailer, and I ain't afraid to use it! Can't wait really!

Free time is not necessarily "free time". Christmas and Thanksgiving was at our home. New years party, also.
We get away on weekends, but with the holidays couldn't.
We are gonna shoot for next weekedend.
Plus our 17yr old son has to work and just don't feel comfortable leaving him home alone just yet overnight,....unsupervised.
I also work and so does my wife. We are only in our early 40's.
