GOOD Friday, BETTER Saturday

Since we are having far above-average temperatures (low 60s), we decided to bring home our A/S. She is stored about 1 hour away from our city, so we rarely get to see her during the winter. Oh it's so nice to have her home! We were hoping to driveway camp last night, but as usual, she attracts a lot of attention, so we ended up chatting with neighbours rather than cleaning and putting in the bedding. Today, we finally got to put in the new things we got over the winter (toaster, rug, bedding, hanging closet shelves, armrests, tire covers). We're sticking with the "circle" theme of the toss cushions that came with her. Even the toaster has dots!

What a great long weekend!

Also, our warranty is up in a few weeks. If anyone has any advice about things we should look for, please tell us. We can't run our water systems, unfortunately. We could have well below freezing temps at any time, so we have to play it safe with water.

A few issues

Sadly, the winter cold did a number on the interior plastics. The AC cover and the trim under the panoramic windows got cracked. We noticed the AC crack on one of our winter visits, and we already have the replacement. We don't, at all, believe this is a quality control issue. It's just what happens in extreme cold. Also, our vinyl floor buckled as it did last year. Not a big deal. I know it'll mostly settle as it heats up.

Lisa and Paul, I'd run water over the top for a while and see if any leaks have opened up over the winter expansion and contraction. First go over all the sealant and look for voids and mark them. If your plastic inside is splitting, things on the roof may be too. I do think the splits are a quality issue because these trailers do not come with a warning: "Do not store in Canada".

I really like the dots motif! That floorplan is really growing on me for when (if?) we move on from the Minuet - narrow-ish body, dinette, couch, fixed bed, vista views, all in 23 feet.

Hope all of the little issues sort themselves out.

Thanks Gene. Good plan. We bought some Acryl-R and Sikaflex last year, so we'll check for outside cracks. And we really really really want to take your advice about not storing in Canada! We hope to ditch our jobs in 10 years...15 years before we're supposed to,... but hey, we're doing it for the Airstream! We'll take her down to where it's warmer to keep her plastic parts nice and soft! Sounds like a perfect plan!

Thanks everyone for the compliments. We really love this floorplan. We camped in a 13 foot trailer for many years, and though we still like our little Boler, it was a trick not to step on the big dog sleeping on the floor! This trailer is grand inside! We once had 2 big dogs, 2 little dogs, and 5 adults (of varying sizes) all inside to watch DVDs while it poured outside. It was great fun!

Driveway camping - 2 dog night!

We slept in the Airstream last night to make sure the furnace worked fine. The temperature was just below the freezing point. We set the furnace to 70 while we were reading, and then down to 67 for the night. It probably was on more than it was off, but it was very comfortable once the chill was out of the air.

It started off as a 2 dog night, but the big dog-furnace jumped down once the chill was gone. The little dog-furnace stayed the whole night and inched closer and closer to get more of our heat.

By morning, even the floor was a comfortable temperature. Great night. We're getting closer and closer to camping season! We'll have to see what parks are open now for winter camping (it's still considered winter camping season here). It's a bit mucky and damp, but no bugs, so that's a plus.
