Only the Honda EU1000i has a aluminum cylinder. All other Honda generators, including the EU2000i models, are aluminum blocks with a cast-iron sleeve. That's why the EU1000i has a 2-year warranty, but all other Honda models have a 3-year warranty.

I own a Honda EU3000is that I'm going to sell. I just bought a Yamaha 2400isHC. This is what I know. The Honda is a nice generator and runs really quietly and easily runs my 13.5 Btu AC unit. I just bought a new GMC Sierra 2500HD and wanted a tonneau cover that is light and easily removable. I got an Undercover SE. The Honda won't fit! It is 21 7/8 inches tall and the cover is just below the bed rails. The Honda sits just below the rails and works with a fiberglass, slightly raised cover. The Honda won't fit in a Ford F250 below the rails. The Yamaha fits easily. The Honda weighs 135 lbs. and I can't lift it in and out. The Yamaha weighs 75 lbs. and I can move it. What Yamaha did with the 2400 HC model, was to add capacitors to allow 4,000 watts for 10 seconds to start an AC unit. The 2400 rated capacity is fine to keep it running. There are two 2400's. The HC model cannot be paralleled but the base unit can. Yamaha has figured out how to make a light weight generator that will start and run a 13.5 AC unit. Honda doesn't do this. So, with Honda, you have a choice of a heavy 3000 watt unit or two 2000 watt units. Going with two 2000 requires double the maintenance of a single generator. Both are quiet, though the 3000 is the quietest of them all at idle. The 3000 has electric start and the Yamaha does not. But, that requires battery maintenance. A Yamaha 2800 is NOT a quiet generator and isn't in this quiet generator category. Yamaha and Honda are absolutely equal in quality. The new Yamaha 2400isHC could be the answer for allot of Airstreamer's.

You forgot the Honda EU3000i Handi. Its 75# and will power an air con.

You need a bigger gen than 2400w. You dont want to kill it.

Yamaha has a multiple-personality thing going on. If you check one part of their website, it says it works (the marketing part); but the tech specs part says it doesn't. Some have had it work just fine. I have no horse in this race; I have dual Honda 2000s.

I have a Yamaha 2400is but I won't the 2400isHC since it will start my 13,500 AC. My 2400is is set up for propane and I wouldn't use any other fuel source. I like the Honda 3000 but it is too tall and heavy for me. The Yamaha is a great generator and the 2400is will run everything in my trailer except the A/C without turning anything off. And, it is quiet. I am already in the "looking" process.

it is instead a Yamaha dealer, and not the manufacturer.

based solely on the real life experience of many of us, the quoted NOTE is at best somewhat inaccurate....

Hi, My Yamaha 2400iS runs my 11,000 BTU air conditioner, converter, and refrigerator at high altitude. I also have the orange 30 Amp adapter for a more possitive and secure connection. [works for me]

My Yamaha 2400is starts and runs my 15K A/C in my 2005 Classic with no problem. I use an adapter to go from the regular 20 amp plut to the 30 amp AS power cable.
