Wiring issue with 1959 22' Caravaneer

We have a short in the wiring that goes to the porch light? Is there anyone who has had to fix an issue with the wiring? If so, please let us know. Thank you

When you say you have a short. Are you blowing the fuse? If so, when does it blow? When you attempt to turn the light on?
What exactly are the symptoms?

Thanks for jumping in.

We do not have the line fused yet. The 12v system is electrifying the trailer near the porch light. Positive line is contacting the frame somehow.

Do you have any idea what is causing this?

Thanks

Please explain how you know the +12 volt is contacting the skin or frame.
If the line is not fused. What keeps it from melting or burning into the skin or frame. Is the problem causing arcing ?
If you are using a meter. What are you referencing it to when you read 12volts?
Cause could be the wire is chaffed or pinched. Or a part of the light fixture or switch is contacting the skin.

Ok, well here is what happened. Evidently, the porch light is a 110v, so we were baffled by this, since everything else has a 12v and 10v wiring system. Yes, it was arcing. So we pulled the skin back and the 110v wire had a bad connection. Fixed that, now we have to order the 110v socket from vintage trailer supply. So I am not completely sure, but i think this will fix the problem.

Thank you for you help. It is greatly and sincerely appreciated.

I replaced mine on the 1958 Caravanner with a dual battery 9 volt dual 16 LED light array which swivels 90 degrees

Send a message via Skype™ to Melody Ranch
It is a 100v light. Use an appliance bulb...it has two contacts like a 12v 1156.

AS to me is not AIRSTREAM it's Airstream Stupid. To this day most Airstream designs are AS. Why have a yard light drawing any kind of power from your rig when for $ 8.48 on eBay you can buy a motion sensor with a full on switch. Do as I, sensor will hang on a hook which is fastened with double stick tape. Pretty hard to tell it's not wired to a silent alarm. Comes on day or night. Might deter thieves. Full on not a good yard light (but original light on rig is no better} serves no purpose for lighting your picnic table as 4 D cell LED lanterns will do. I'll take mine off hook and go to CG bath rooms. I'll have a second one for roadside and I'll remove prior to OTR. Open your door , wave your hand, and your walkway is lighted. Return 4 hours later and when you get close enough you've got light. If it shines bright enough or far enough flip the back switch as you depart. Kids may mess with it however. Just spoke with Airstream dealer - no motion detector lights ever. Classic AS thinking. Dealer said it's an after market item. So drop $92,000 or more on a new one and then go somewhere to have it modified. AS
WIRELESS MOTION SENSOR LIGHT-10 SUPER BRIGHT LED NEW

What does this have to do with the original question?
