WiFi Ranger on 12 volt power or 110

I have a question about WiFi ranger system {https://www.wifiranger.com/shop/product/52-elite-pack-flat-mount}. We are getting it installed tomorrow on our 2015 30-ft Airstream Flying Cloud.

This is the email I got from service tonight, "Do you have an objection to the wifi booster being hooked up to 12 volt power instead of the 110? It does give you the option, however for the 110 to work we would need to run a significantly larger amount of wire to get it to a plug. The booster if hooked to 12 volt would work basically anytime your battery booster is engaged. This is the way we have done on the other trailers we have installed it on and have not had an issue. "

I tried to call service but they are gone for the night and I need to get them an answer by the morning, since I'm the first job.

Can someone help me understand what he means by battery booster? We are complete newbies so I'm not sure which option to choose - 12 volt or 110. I just know I need this to work at all times - as I'll have to work online on the road.

Anyone have the WiFi Ranger system and want to chime in?

Thank you!

I have one and have it connected to 12v so it will work all of the time. I can disconnect it and reconnect it to 110 AC but I cannot see a need to do that.

Connecting to 12 volt is actually preferred to 110 volt because that way it will work even when you are not connected to shore power (or a generator.) In general, when presented with a choice to connect a device to 12v or 110v pick the 12v option.

Third vote for 12V power.

Mine has been directly wired to the 12 volt bus for 4 years now. I have never plugged it into 110 yet!

Like everyone else mine is on 12V. I do not have any reason to use 110V for it.

Additionally if connected thru 12 volt you will automatically have the advantage of power-line conditioning. In other words, if you ever run on a portable generator, the 110 volt supply might be capable of damaging any digital equipment due to power-fluctuations.... while running on 12 volt automatically pre-conditions (smooths) the power source. (The 12 volt battery is essentially a huge capacitor/condenser and will provide electronic shock-absorbing for your digital electronics.)

There seems to be many models from which to choose. Are most AS owners going with the external antenna models?

I have the external antenna model and it is not permanently mounted. I have it attached to a telescoping pole(deck brush tool) which fits inside a pvc pipe attached to the wd jack on the trailer. The 12 v power supply is in the battery box and I simply plug into that. It gives me a very strong signal inside the trailer and if the campground wireless is strong enough I do not erect the unit.
