What are all those cables in my battery box?
I am not sure what some of the cables in my battery box are for. One set connects the batteries to each other. One set, the ones with covered ends?, runs to the converter. One small gauge one runs forward to the breakaway switch, I think. And one set mystifies me. Does it go to the brakes? Can someone enlighten me? Thanks

A picture would be helpful. Often one goes to the jack. Or it may be one to your gas leak detector which stays on even when your disconnect is in the "store" position.

The covered cables go to the positive and negative bus bars under the front bed (if you have one), or into the Dc connection area. The other 'heavy cables' (not really, but that description will work for now) more than likely run to your inverter. You DO have one.......no?

Like Lew said, most likely the other "heavy cables" go to your inverter. If you don't have an inverter then possibly your tow vehicle umbilical.

Yes, the other set of large cables goes to your inverter. That wiring is identical to that on my 2014 FC 20'.

as mentioned, the covered cables go to your main fuse/distribution panel inside the trailer...
NOTE: These main cables are hooked up PROPERLY in that POS is hooked to one battery, and the NEG is hooked to the other battery - this insures the best possible charge/discharge balance for both batteries...
The small wire is probably hooked to the electric jack or it's light...

My Lifeline AGM battery connections
Here's a photo of my Lifeline AGM batteries and connections as hooked up by the Airstream factory at the time of the build. I took the photo and made a diagram just prior to replacing my batteries with new Lifeline AGM batteries:

If it were my trailer (or one that I worked on), I would increase the size of the parallel connectors that run between the positive terminals and negative terminals to minimum or 2AWG and preferably 1/0AWG. In essence, you are creating one big battery and you can 'bet your bippy' that the connectors between the cells inside those Lifelines are far larger than the 6 or 4 AWG that is shown in your photo.
I also increase the size of the connectors that run into the trailer to a minimum 2 AWG to the bus bars. Fat wire is happy wire!!!!!! 
Go B-I-G or go home............

Lewster is right..... absolutely 'fat wire' is 'happy wire'... no reason to have good batteries and CHOKE them with sad skinny wire.
I get my 'happy fat wire' from the welding shop... the guys will cut and properly install the 'lug/terminal' for you on the ends... Bring your 'originals' and they can match them.
