Upgrading '08 Dometic thermostat

Is it possible to upgrade the older type thermostat to one of the newer more functional ones? I have a new to me '08 Safari SE.

A thermostat only has one function. Turn on and turn off the heater. If it works that is the best you can do.

I say if it works because I did have to do some modifications to the spring to get the hysteresis more in line with the capacity of the heater.

By "thermostat", I was referring to the controller on the wall that controls the air conditioning, heat pump fan and heater components together. The newer digital-type units appear more functional than the relatively primitive one in my 19' Safari. I know they all do the same thing but I find the older model that I have is not only difficult to see but is also not inspiring nor in keeping with the otherwise neat look and potential of the newer one I have seen.

Good question. I would like to change my Dometic controller to the newer style but since we have an earlier version of the Penquin AC/heat pump I bet its not swappable. I believe the 5 button thermostat is analog and the Comfort Control Center for the Penquin II are digital. I've see some circuit boards available to allow a Penguin II to use the older 5 button thermostat but I can't find any info for using the newer thermostat models on the Penguin I AC/heatpump.

If your older thermostat is broken you can still get them.
