Univolt system not charging

After a summer of scratching out heads, we finally figured out the Univolt system was not charging our battery when we were plugged into 120. We checked all the fuses and believe they are all good. After reading some of the threads, I'm wondering if this is something that should just be upgarded to a current system or is it worth fixing? Any suggestions??

Well, first, check to make sure it's not just turned off - some campers have a switch for it, or it might be unplugged, check the breakers, etc.

But even if it is off and does work fine, it's worth upgrading - the old univolts only put out a single voltage that will kill your battery unless you're careful to turn it off when it's done charging. The three stage models available today are much smarter and shouldn't do that.

No old Univolt is worth fixing, even if anyone would fix it or could find parts. They were good at the time, but times change. They tended to overcharge batteries and cause their early death.

A modern 3 stage charger, such as the Progressive Dynamics PD 9245 or 9260 is a good investment. Less than $200 generally. I think the 9245 would work fine for you.

I can attest to this, I wana keep the system original, but having more modern equipment that doesn't sound like a small drill going all the time that's silent and keeps your battery good for a while, is def better, plus u can see it.
