I run the A/S on 120 ( in reality a 220 converted in 120 v ); The battery is not connected ( the plug is on of ); After 1 hour , the univolt stop running and no more 12v in the A/S, then 5 minute later it start again. Each 5 / 10 minute it do that again.
I try with the battery on, it does the same scenario. it's a recent univolt, not the genuine one.
Apparently, the univolt automaticly disconnect ; may be too hot ( I feel the warm but no burn odor ) or something else ?
Do you advice me to put a small fan or what to do.
If it charges the battery, this one becomes hot or not ?

Sounds like you have a circuit breaker that trips and then resets itself when cool.Not sure where to tell you to look,but maybe someone will reply with an answer.Good luck.

It does sound like a breaker, check the input voltage to the univolt under load. Your 50 cps could also be affecting it if it is not set up to use this frequency, lower output voltage and higher current.
Do you think that is the frequency who make trouble after 1 hour and after each 5 minutes ?
Someone told me the effect to run in 50 instead of 60 hz make more power so more warm , may be. that 'ld explain the great laps of time , at first , to become warm or hot , then when hot, disconnect to become cooler and start again, etc...
is there inside the univolt ( MAGNITEX ), a system to control transformer 120/12 v temperature and stop it when too hot ?
do you think i have to put a small fan on the transformer 120/12 v , inside the univolt to refresh it ?
I have 2 chassis batteries on my mh and a little 1 1/2 amp maintainer to keep them up. Most of the year it is fine but if it is really hot I have to put it in front of a fan or it will overheat and trip. So if it is a marginal situation it would probably work. But you are still overheating it and that kills electronics. My $20 charger, no big deal, but convertsrs can get expensive.
How many watts is your 220-120 transformer? Got 120v when it is under full power?
My converter transformer 120/12 v MAGNITEX is, in input ,written 120 v 7 amp, so i've equiped it with a new transformer 220/ 120 v with a power of 1000 w ;
Apparently the univolt take the maximun of power as soon as it is in function, because the transformer 220 : 120 is hot. I ve tested in out plugs and I find the 120 v.
i 've bought a fan today and I 'll try with it to see if there are always break again
