Angry UNIVOLT makees 40 v !!!!

Hi the community,

seaching why my new radio cD mounted in the A/S was out after only one week, i have discover in testing, that the Univolt delivers 40v instead of the wanted 12v !!!!

Does it mean that the Univolt ( Magnitek 40 Amp ) is out or isthis because i use a 220/110 50hz in front of the univolt ( i'm in FRANCE and no more 110 v ).

Do you thing i have to replace it by a new one , to repair it or to modify circuit to decrease the voltage to get 12 V

thank you for your advices.

Bruno.

Bruno,
If you did not replace or upgrade the stock Univolt it is probably fried from the voltage/cycles. Look at the DometicFR site. They will have the proper unit for use in Europe. I am suprised that you haven't fried a bunch of light bulbs too. Anything electric will either need to be replaced with 220v/50hz compatible or a step down transformer of some sort installed.
Edit: Bruno my comprehension of French is minimal I think I may have linked you to a converter you need an inverter to convert the 220 to 12 volt. Check with a French RV center and they should be able to point you in the correct direction.
