Tv signal loss when charging ipad

We first observed this problem with a 2015 AS and find the exact same issue with our new 2016 International Serenity.

Both of these AS's have the 'ducted' air system so the TV antennae is fixed on the roof. As for whether the fixed version of a TV antennae is as good as what we used to have, is debatable.

The problem is easy to describe.

When the TV (either) is on, and a iPad (or iPhone) is connected to any of the charging ports included in the bedroom sleep positions on either side, the TV loses signal. An exception might occur if the TV signal is particularly strong. On disconnecting the iPad, signal returns immediately.

Your experience and advice will be appreciated.

Have you tried other outlets? I have one front LED light that screws with the TV. Simple solution, I do not use that light when watching TV.

We have a 2015 Serenity and also have that issue when using the USB charging port. I think the system thinks that we are inputting another form of media. Just use one of the 110V outlets when watching TV.

The digital TV signals used today are far more susceptible to interference than the older analog signals. While they are a sharper signal they either work or do not work, there is not such thing as a weak picture.

Sounds like the USB system is leaking in a frequency close to the TV signal and effecting it. What is the source of the USB charging system? And as mentioned above if you use an 120/USB adapter in one of the 120 volt receptacles is the problem still there?

I have a flashlight charger at work that knocks out the radio signal when I start the charging process. It's annoying, but not that uncommon.

Maybe that's why they ask you to put the cell phones away on the airplane?

Tv signal loss when charging ipad

Nope. Different reason.

In this case, the USB 12 volt charger is a cheaply designed switch-mode power supply. It causes interference with the tv signal. Or the phone is causing a similar issue.

Noticed my TV signal would drop out periodically also. Unplugging my phone from usb corrected the issue. 2017 signature

I tried a bit more playing with this issue and plugging and unplugging does create interference but I'm not sure it's entirely the usb fault. I'm on the fringe with one station and it drops out on its own. With the usb charging on, it is worse to the point it drops out to a blank screen.

Same problem, slightly different situation.

My trailer was not equipped with 5V USB ports. And I have the older style Winegard Sensar crank up antenna.

I added a 12V cigarette lighter outlet in each corner of my trailer, tapping into the LED light feed. Note, no danger of overloading as the feed wire is quite substantial.

I insert a dual outlet 5B USB charger into this 12V outlet and when I charge an iPhone I observe a reception problem in fringe areas.

Guessing that it is somehow interfering with the Antenna booster, which also runs off 12V. Haven't ascertained if they are on the same circuit.

Recently purchased some different 12V to 5V, but have not had a chance to test in a fringe area. May also add a torrid choke to the Antenna booster 12V feed.

Doesn't look like the Chinese are paying attention to our FCC rule on transmission and interference.

I have the same problem with radio reception. If there is a better quality USB port to use for charging, I would love to hear about it.

Also with the circular HD attennas many times when you riaise the front fantastic fan vent , with fan on or off, it will kill your TV reception. Lower the vent and your reception comes back. Must be the metal frame in the vent getting in the way of the antenna.

If I use the bathroom ceiling fan it kills TV reception until I shut it off. I assume the wiring for the antenna is near the fan.
