Tail light wiring?

The PO damaged the right rear tail light and had it all wired wrong, I just finished repairing and re-installed the assembly.

I was looking at the wiring diagram and the wires on the left tail lights here's what I see.

The outside lite is tied into the clearance lights, but there is an extra yellow wire going no place? the bulb is a duel element, but it is just a tail light, shouldn't this be a single element bulb and socket with a single wire?

The center light is the backup no issue there.

The inboard light which is the turn and stop light has one wire. How can it do both functions? More confusing is although it has one wire it is a dual element bulb.

It this all sound right?

I have the battery out because I'm getting ready to install a Power center, so I can't test it right now.

If you are referring to your Airstream's battery, its removal will not matter as tail lights are powered only by the tow vehicle.

I tracked down the spec's

Tail light uses 1157 but only one wire or element is used the other is not used??????

Backup and turn/stop uses 1156.

My question is how does the turn/stop share one bulb with a single element?
