"Not sure if want it up there full time on my daily driver. Seems like a tempting target for thieves"

That's a good point, YippiKiYa, and something I'd not considered.

Samb, thanks for the report on your panels on the truck. I don't think I'd be a heavy watt-burner, either.

I know this is an old thread, but I had another question for you experts out there.
Just back from first boondocking for 5 days with my new Renogy Eclipse panels on the roof of my truck canopy to replace the flexible ones.
Where we do most of our camping on the island,it is hard to find a sunny location where panels on the airstream would work well,so I have stayed with my original idea.
The only thing decided I want to do after this last trip is get a portable 100W to augment the 300w on the canopy so I can move it around as well when I am at the campground.
The question is the gauge of the wire needed. My truck connection to the connector at the battery box on the trailer is 6AWG 22ft long. Do I need the same gauge to connect the single 100w if I am using the same solar controller as the other 3 panels? I hope to also have the single 100w on about 25 ft of wire spliced into a Pico connector hooking up with the truck cable.
Thanks for any input.
