Simple Q: 30 amp RV cord to 15 amp wall unit..

Hi—first-time Airstream owner, long-time Airstream lover here,

I know there is probably a very simple answer here and I'm over-thinking it. But. The 120v 30amp cord on my 69 Overlander is (obviously) too large for a standard 15amp wall outlet and extension cord. I purchased a 30-to-15 amp adapter but for some reason still have no power in the trailer and "polarity warning" light coming on the Central Control panel.

I checked the manual for troubleshooting—all fuses are good etc. but still only have only battery power. I'd appreciate any tips anyone has to get me refrigerating, microwaving and not draining the battery any more using the 8-track!

Thanks.

The outlet you are plugging into might have reversed polarity. You can get a simple tester at Home Depot or similar stores.

If the outlet test OK. The power cord could be wired wrong. If you plan to run air conditioning you will need 30 amp service.
Here is a site with info on RV wiring. Just click on "Electric" in the right hand column.
