Signal-stat 3101

Anyone have an idea where I can buy a new Signal-stat 3101 7-way male connector? This is the connector that snaps into the socket underneath the front window on our '69 Safari.

Thanks.

The original Signal Stat, male and female connectors, have been replaced with the "Pollak" brand.

They are the same, except for the color.

9 Way

My 1985 Limited owners manual calls out a 9 way plug type. I have the 7 way on mine.

Anyone have this or can talk to what it all connects too?

The nine-way connector provided provisions for the Tele-Tector flat detction system as well as a control wire for the refrigerator. The wiring diagram can be found at:

1985-1988 Bargman 9-Way Plug Wiring Diagram

Good luck with your investigation!

I have that connector too and was looking for a replacement.

But I would like to change it to the 7 way blade type receptical that is used on the car side. The connecting cable would have two identical 7 way plugs on either end.

Is there a 7 way blade receptical with the same bolt pattern as the original signal stat?

My brother-in-law replaced his signal-stat with the Pollak a number of years ago. It looks good and there have been no problems with it.
If anyone would like pictures of the installation let me know.
The nice thing is that you can pick up the Pollak or Hoppy replacements at any auto parts store.

Yes, the trailer has the teletector on it...however the tow vehicle piece is long gone. What was the control wire for the refridgerator used for?

According to the literature that I have read, the refrigerator control wire was a signal as to whether the tow vehcile was running. When the tow vehcile's ignition was turned off it would signal the refrigerator to extinguish the gas flame (for safer fueling) -- then after the tow vehicle was restarted, the sensor would keep the flame off for a period of time to allow the rig to safely exit the fueling station.

I have never owned a coach with this setup, but have known several who have -- I don't know that any of them actually had both features enabled. It is my understanding that it is still possible to find the TeleTector control for the tow vehicle.

After years of traveling with RVs equipped with 3-Way refrigerators (since 1979), this setup always impressed me as being an overly complicated solution to a problem that had been conveniently solved by the addition of the 12-Volt-DC capability to RV refrigerators in the late 1970s.

3101 7way Signal-stat

Good Morning all

I need the wiring diagram for the 3101 Signal Stat,, I am not an electrician so a good diagram of both ends would be most thankful, I can find what the wires do but no pics. Seems like the previous owner may of pulled by the wires and pulled them loose. Burned them real bad so I cut the cable back and can't find a diagram to put em back,,
you can e-mail me at r_mizell@hotmail.com

Thanks for any help and your time

NAPA Auto parts had a nice all-metal (not steel) option. Be sure to replace the receptical ($14) and the plug-in cable ($10) end together. Mixing a new metal socket and an old plastic end doesn't work, as you may read in other posts. They even had 7-wire cable (14 gauge) with 10 guage ground sold by-the-foot ($2/ft).

The correct cable from Airstream has 4 #14 gauge wires, 1 #12 gauge wire, and 2 #10 gauge wires.

The # 10 wires are used for the ground and charge line.

We always have that special 7 way cable in stock.

It is sold "by the foot."

Typically 7 feet is required per trailer.

Vintage Trailer Supply sells a nice 7' cable with a molded plug on it already.

Pollack makes the replacement connectors for the old Signal Stats.

The 7 way cable can be added to it, as the length from year to year varies.

I would call vintage trailer supply or out of doors mart and ask if the have the one you need. Their staff is very friendly and helpful.

Signal-Stat 3101

Perhaps a bit out of date, but I just went through this process. I found an exact match, except all metal (non-ferrous) from NAPA. The part is made by Phillips (USA). The NAPA part number is PHI 15-720 and sells for $10.69. The matching plug which goes on the end of the connecting cable is NAPA part number 755-5025 and sells for $9.99.

Signal-Stat 3101 wiring diagram

I have a 1970 Soverign and need a wiring schematic diagram of the trailer receptacle for the Signal-Stat 3101. The current industry standard for the 7 way connection is not the same. Help will be most appreciated.
