Shore Power inlet failure

We've been hooked into shore power in a trailer park for 7 months now... and all of the sudden our power went out.

The plug is fried and the wires are melted... we aren't sure what happened or really how badly we're screwed. Any ideas?

Doesn't look fried, just like the wire is loose. Can you insert the wire back in its position and tighten the clamp?

Power in campgrounds can vary and you might have had a surge, or the wire might have come loose from travel....or it may have been loose to begin with and through heat fluctuation, worked its way off. Like someone else said, it does not look fried. I installed a Furrion 30 amp locking marine connection. But for now, I would reinstall the wire on the screw and see if all works. If you are not comfortable with this process, hire an electrician to do the repair.

There was an Airstream recall over loose power inlet wiring on recent models.

You may have had a lightning strike nearby. Did other RVs in the park have problems at the same time?

I recently had to replace our Marinco inlet and cord with new Furrion. Not sure, but the cause may have been ants. Once they are attracted to a spot, they can cause a lot of damage. Just a thought.

Looks like you had a loose connection. Looseness creates heat, heat creates higher impedance, more heat, more amps. Parts melt. Replace the connector and consider replacing the plug.

I replaced the Shore Power inlet with a Hubbell, it looks pretty sharp!

I made sure wire connection was very secure... and we have power again!

Loose wiring must have been the culprit. Thanks all!

Shiny!!! Sure you will be pleased for a long time.

Make sure you replace that umbilical, too!
