Romex size
we are in the process of gutting the 1973 31ft and we are wondering for the "re-wiring" what is the size of preference for the romex? 12/2 or 14/2. All will still be on the 30Amp.
Thanks for the help.

The 30 amp cord wants to be #10, the 20 amp circuits want to be @12, and any 15 amp circuit should be #14

So basically we should do
AC in 12/2
Outlets on 14/2
And we will keep the 25Ft cord (looks like #8 to me)
Thanks again

You should do 20 amp (12/2) for kitchen and bath (hair dryer) specific outlets and microwave if you have one.

14/2 is minimum - there is no rule you can't run 12/2 everywhere that 14/2 could be run.
Confirm what you're buying has equal sized & insulated copper ground wire, some grounds run bare and some have smaller or aluminum conductors.... Just one of the things the lowest priced wire tries to sneak home with buyers.

I would buy a 250ft roll of 12/2 and call it good. I would only use 14/2 for lights. I ALWAYS use 12/2 for wall outlets. In reality 14/2 is fine especially if you never plan to upgrade to a 50 A or 220V 30A system. I tend to want to plug in space heaters and the system in my AS won't support it. There is one 15A circuit that powers the fridge, univolt, and outlets so there is no much left of that 15A for heaters and such.

Yes, 12-2 w/ground. If you prewire for solar, use 8 awg for that in case you want to mount a lot of panels. Airstream uses 10, but for more than a couple of hundred watts, that's not enough. Other wiring would include HDMI for TV to sound system, USB if you don't have a wireless printer or other electronic items, and wiring for wifi booster or cell booster antennas which are mounted on the roof or side.

12/2 is fine, just harder to work in small outlet boxes. 14/2 is much easier. Also remember gfci outlets near water.

Stranded Marine grade 12/2 with ground is very pliable and easy to work with. I won't use Romex on ANY RV. Quality never costs in the long run!

You got a spec on the 12/2 marine grade? Is it just 12/2 SO cable or something different than that?

105ºC rated and fully insulated (including ground). Flame retardant marine wire and cable options meet and exceed requirements from US Coast Guard, ABYC and DOT. Available in single conductor and multi-conductor options for a variety of applications. Multi-conductor marine cable has electro-tinned plated copper conductors with a flame retardant PVC jacketing. Single conductor tinned UL1426 Marine Wire is extra flexible for easy routing and bending through marine applications. The flame retardant PVC jacket provides maximum protection from water, vibration, abrasion and chemicals.

wow...guys once again we had to confess that we love the forum!
just a question and all the knowledge from experienced people in few secs, thanks again.
Well regrading the size it seems like 12/2 will be the way to go since we also have the tendency to plug heaters/de-humidifiers/hair dryer/ toasters/ etc anywhere where there is a free plug and don't really ant to start thinking on: "what braker circuit was this on"? or "What else is already on this circuit"? so it seems like 12/2 is the way to go.
Any source for the marine 12/2?

Waytek Rocks - they are in Chanhassen, MN about 25 minutes from me and I've driven over to their City Desk for local pick-ups five or nine times. The first time I was there their new building was just built, red clay everywhere and one of the Company Officers actually handled the details of my order.
Looking at their prices they strongly compete with anything off eBay. Their warehouse is 95% automated with robotic picker trolleys dropping bins of picked-orders off at supermarket style conveyor belts where the check-out count & packing clerks finish the orders for the robotic sleds to return.
Does these and these look familiar to anyone?

See post #15 above.
I would still give my business to Waytek even if they were not as well priced as they are. Their service and selection are second to none!!
