Reverse Polarity - Need Help

Alright Streamers. Just checked into my campsite. RP light is showing on my Surge Guard... What do I do? Is it ok to run the AC? It's hot in South Arkansas so need some help.

I also have a cheap tester that plugs into the outlets. I just tried it in several of the outlets and it says "correct"

I had that problem earlier this summer. Everything worked inside, but Surge Guard said reverse polarity. It had been raining and I believe there may have been some corrosion on the socket. I had a few circuit checking devices that all read ok so I went ahead and used it. Everything ran fine. Do you have any of the circuit testing plugs you can check it with?

Oops, just saw your post about the tester saying it is good. That is the exact same way mine did. I ran everything without any problems.

Thanks for the reply. I've been running everything for 15 minutes without a problem. Just wanted to make sure I'm not doing any permanent damage.

What is the level of the AC voltage with and without the air conditioner running?

Sounds like a "backfeed" on the neutral... I would suggest being very careful touching the AS while standing on the ground.

Check for a "hot skin" condition. Is there ANY voltage between the shell and the actual ground/dirt.

If you have a 30 amp to 15 amp adaptor. Unplug the shore power cord and surge suppressor.
Plug the adaptor in. Then use one of the outlet circuit testers to check for reverse polarity and other issues.
This should tell you if there is in fact reverse polarity.

We had that happen last year when we plugged in to a receptacle at someone's home which had a ground fault system. The surge protector showed out of phase but the plug in tester used inside the A/S said ok. We did not check for hot skin, but everything went ok by not using the surge protector. The ground fault detector in the house also said everything was ok.
