replacing outlets

I went to replace the stock white outlet and white covers and to my surprise the outlets are nothing I've encountered. I tracked down that they're Hubbell Wirecon that splits the romex.

My intention was to swap out the white on white combo with aluminum covers and black outlets (similar to whats on the Land Yacht). I was able to replace the covers, but they're still stock white outlets. I even had red outlets for the inverter duty, would have looked sharp.

Anyone ever try replacing the outlets? It looks like they snap together during assembly and it "may" be possible to replace the cover, but its starting to look like something I don't feel like tackling at the moment.

I tried to replace a bad outlet in my trailer with conventional outlets. I tried two different types of "shallow old work" boxes from Lowes. There is not enough space between the inside and outside skins to slip the box in. Since the existing outlets take the place of the box, you are pretty much stuck with the RV-style outlets. At least that is my experience.
