Rear A/C Temp Sensor

I could use some advice concerning what appears to be a faulty temp sensor in rear bedroom of a 2015 Classic. On the way back from CA to SC I began to notice rear A/C fan would come on for a few seconds, no compressor on, the shut down. This would happen several times but it would never function correctly as the front A/C would. Operating on a 10 button Dometic thermostat. I had a mobile tech in NC check it out and his diagnosis was a faulty rear temp sensor. Several things led him to this conclusion, E5 error code which I told him about that had shown up once and when you pressed the inside temp for rear zone it would always read 55 degrees. The tech suggested not to splice a new sensor but to make a new run up to the control board of the rear A/C. Dometic says it is ok to splice. Domestic also give you the alternative of disconnecting rear sensor and making a few dip switch adjustments and the rear A/C can run of the front sensor. Any thoughts as to either alternative?

moisture in the "phone jack' type connectors can cause an error in the readings of the sensors. (common when humid) please do a search for the temp sensor error posts on the forum.
