Progressive Dynamics Converters

I am considering switching out the Parallax Power supply. The Progessive Dynamics 4655 has been recomended. Any thoughts about noise, reliability, or anything else would be appreciaced.

I replaced the original univolt in my 66 Tradewind two years ago with a PD 9245 converter. I have been very happy with the converter. I recommend it. I got it from Best Converters and recommend them also. Great price and service.

PD makes very good 3 stage converter/chargers. I have used the 9245 and 9260 with very good results. I assume your Parallax is the one you want to replace the "guts" of and that is why you want the 4655 (55amp) one. Looking on the PD website, I found this:

Inteli-Power 55 Amp Converter/Charger
Model #PD4655V replaces these converter sections: Parallax/Magnatek #6355, Parallax #7355,
Parallax #7155, WFCO™ #8955

So, if your Parallax is one of those, the PD should be a direct slide in replacement. If not one of those numbers, you need more research into the exact one you want.

I installed the PD 45 amp model this year, replaced the Univolt. I am pleased with it. It whispers only in the boost mode, but you would have to get your ear very close to hear it. I love the battery charge wizard. I got the battery tender for my scooter and riding mower (each is 6v). The only thing that bothers me is the light on the controller extension for the charge wizard. It is a bit too bright for me. I guess it's safer that way, but I turn the light side down at night.
