tough one, I started out stringing an insulated ground since I had the bottom skins out replacing floor, but then found a few splices in the wall without boxes that were pretty baked, and I ended up removing a few more interior rivets and running new romex, including a circuit for a/c. Both have their benefits, I agree if things test ok and you're not pulling things out, leave as is and add a ground if you can (make sure its insulated so the skin doesn't become part of that system), but if you are opening up for reno, replace the wire makes more sense.
