Ozymandias' scare light mod.
Inspired by some recent posts regarding led scare light conversions, I took a shot at converting mine using a 10 watt white led and a motorized heat sink.
The led is about postage stamp size and 1mm thick. It is 12 volt as is the tiny fan in the back of the heat sink. The case was modified by making a hole in the center of the back with a stainless steel screen to feed fresh air to the heat sink fan and four 1/4" holes along the top to let hot air out. Because of the heat sink motor, there is not a great savings in electricity over the original bulb, but the amount of light is SIGNIFICANTLY better. Cost was about $10.00 (see my post on Zep's scare light thread). The original socket and wire was retained for an easy reversion to the original configuration should that be desirable.
