OK to swap single outlet for double?

Outlet for front TV plug has one side blocked by factory. Would like to also plug Sat converter in that outlet. Any reason not to swap double outlet for existing single?

Thanks.
Sam

I think they put in whatever outlet they grab. It seemed to me that the inverter outlets were intended to be singles and the shore power ones double. But I had a single by my rear television. When I was at the factory for some warranty work they changed it to a double.

It's possible to carefully open the second outlet on the blocked ones with a hobby knife. There are other threads on this forum about that. Try searching.

In our rig only the inverter plugs are singles.

We use those plugs expanders that you plug into the outlet to give you three additional places to plug things into. Have had no issues doing this.

Of course you can use a theefer -- three for one, also known as a cube tap (or, in film lighting work where it is ironically known as a 30A junction box.)

The metal guts are in place for the connection. One just needs to open the slots and hole for the typical US 15 amp plug. The other alternative is to install a real outlet versus the super cheap RV outlet Airstream installs.

I replaced all the Airstream outlets with the Hubbell 20 amp rated GFI shallow duplex outlets.
