Noisy Univolt

I have a 89 excella and the Univolt makes a humming noise (not even in tune) whenever it's connected to shore power, but other than that it works fine. I've been told that the new univolts don't make any noise as they're solid state (whatever that means). Can anyone confirm that as I've got to change it out 'cos it's driving me mad.

You've got that right. I like my Intellipower converter, but there's other brands available.

A battery in poor codition makes a noisy device even noisy-er!

The old one's have a dry-type tansformer in them....newer ones
may be solid state devices.

If you can't stand it any longer.....pull it, pony up the bucks and get
busy :-)
