The only suggestion I would offer is to twist the wires for about an inch before putting on the wire nuts to ensure a good connection.

Wirenuts are used all over the wiring in my house. If there is a current rating on them it needs to be whatever your service is, or rated for the wire size you are joining since that implies a current rating.

IMHO, YMMV, etc.

If you are in north Florida try Sanders north of Gainesville. They will fix you up.

Same problem here - same exact trailer/year. We did have one low voltage shutoff courtesy of the Progressive Dynamics EMS on the pole. But we've had some intermittent shut offs that weren't due to low voltage (as far as I can tell by the PD).

So I'm thinking of having the ATS bypassed at a local RV shop just to get through the rest of this season. Where exactly is this located? I hear it's either on the back of the Parallax or with the inverter? Not sure...

For the future - some folks have made mention of a manual switch. Is something like this what I'd be looking for?

http://www.boatersland.com/newssswit...FUEmhgodC5QB_A

I think this fall I'm going to have a local RV dealer swap out the Parallax and install a manual transfer switch. Just want to be sure I provide the right parts (or that the dealer can order the right parts).

Thanks for any insight you can share. If you know of good vendors/RV electricians in the CT/MA area, feel free to PM me with recommendations. Thanks!

I would also be interested in shops/vendors on Long Island NY or CT/MA as above, to upgrade our converter/charger, batteries, maybe add solar, etc., so please post any leads here, and we can start a new thread if needed.

Thanks,

Peter

Location of ATS

SteveSueMac
If you have not already found the ATS, it is on the back of the Parallax Power Converter. With the power completely off (disconnected shore line and battery), you need to pull the Parallax out (I put a towel down because it has some sharp edges). Pull it out as far as you can. Depending on how much play is in the connected wires, you may have to tilt the top forward to allow you to get to the back. The ATS (ATS301) is "attached" to the back. I put that in quotes, because it all looks like the same unit. The ATS is inside the bump out box on the back. Once you have it open, with a few wire nuts, it can be straight forward by pass (see previous post). Below is a link to a stock image of the Parallax 7300 with a view of where the ATS is located.
