New converters

In 2012 when we bought a 23d, there was a lot of discussion about the electric converters failing in the larger Airstreams with the power connections in the front and side of the trailer. Wife and I are interested in getting a 25 ft Airstream , and I am curious if there has been an upgrade to the system since 2012. Haven't seen a lot of discussion of this recently. I hope I am using the correct terminology, calling it a converter. Thanks in advance, Mike

No, you are talking about the auto-transfer switch. In my 2012 it is the same one as has failed in prior years. I bought a different switch to install when the stock one fails.

I think it's the same switch as our 2012. I don't worry about it because I don't use a generator sitting in the pickup bed for which is was intended, I guess. In the unlikely event I ever did I may change the switch as a precaution. In the event of failure I think you can just move a wire from one side of the switch to the other and bypass it.

So as long as the same input recepticle is used, there should be no issues, right?
I bought the generators for that purpose but have yet to use them. I think the cord would reach to the side recepticle. Anyhow, thanks for the response.

It should not transfer to the fwd outlet if you do not plug in a source there, but it could certainly fail. It seems that there are enough failures reported that it could fail in most any mode. You are probably fine never using the front connection, but I still have a new switch with me if mine fails.

Where is this switch generally located?

I have the 25FB and it is under the bed, forward of the fuse panel.
