New Atwood water heater old Bowen door vent problem

Problem is my new Atwood water heater vents on the left side and my old Bowen door which I want to reuse vented via a chimney on the right , with some cutting and added sheet metal the new heater and old Bowen door flange will fit together and seal but I am not sure on the venting of the exaust to the outside. If I just reinstall the old door will the heater work and vent properly? It looks like I could reverse the door to get the vent on the left if needed. I've got a '63 Globetrotter. Anyone solved this problem?
