Need Short (10') Locking 30 amp Power Cord

I've searched high & low to no avail. Anyone know where I can get one of these? The 90 degree connection type would be my first choice!

I've found plenty of extension cords, but they don't have the locking attachment.

Thanks,

I do not know what the locking attachment is. I use a 10 foot extension I bought from Amazon. If someone makes what you are looking for Amazon probably lists it.

The only way that I know of to get a 10' power cord for your Airstream is to build it yourself.

I have done exactly that. I had found over the years that very often, I didn't need a full 30' shore power cord. The 30' cord was sometimes hard to handle, especially in colder weather. I had a backup 30' foot cord which I cut into 10' and 20' lengths. I purchased one trailer end and one power post end on Amazon and wired the ends.

I now have a 10', 20', and 30' cord. I rarely use the 30' cord.

Here is one option. It’s longer than you want but it’s all I could find. I have the 50amp version of this and it is MUCH simpler than wrestling the “anaconda” cord.

Can anyone share the gauge of the cord so I can make my own? I have made a power cord for my generator to the house using parts from home depot so I can probably do the same if I knew the cord gauge. Assuming I can find the correct ends.

Need Short (10') Locking 30 amp Power Cord

10 gauge stranded copper wire minimum

Ends available on Amazon. Look for RV-30 connectors for the plug end. Other end depends on how your trailer is wired.

The wire gauge of your OEM cord should be written on the cord. Match that AWG . . . for 30' [not 50'] probably #10, as others have posted.

Your owner's manual probably has the same spec in the back.

If your concern is related to keeping your power cable nice and tidy, may I suggest you consider something like the Cordpro cord organizer available on Amazon. I saw somebody using one last week and, based on his feedback, plan to order one for my 30’ cord.

Since the subject is power cords, is there an adapter that has a lock? I bought a 30 Amp PC from Walmart as a spare. When I needed it I realized it wouldn't work because it doesn't have that locky thingy on the connector. After a trip to the local RV store I bought a correct power cord. Am I stuck with the Walmart cord which they advertise as an RV power cord? Seems like there must be an adapter out there some where. Thank you.

Consider a two part solution; a 12’ 30A marine cable (male & female twist lock ends) and a 1’ 30A trailer plug to twist lock adapter. You will also want to get a collar and two rings to create a tight waterproof locking connection between the adapter and cord. Marinco makes these. An added bonus is that you can use the 12’ cord as an extension to your existing shore power cable.

I actually use this setup as my primary shore power cable where I have a 12’, 25’ & 50’ cable to choose from to mate with the adapter. At a Canadian campground, even the 50’ cable wasn’t long enough so I connected two cables together to make it reach. I was careful to limit my current through this cable.

Of course, with all of the promotion to the new SmartPlug, having two twist lock connectors would certainly be a death sentence, so ignore what I wrote above.

Trailer electric cord lock

Try to keep it simple. Purchase a pad lock with a long shank that is wide enough to go around your wire. slide the shackle of the lock over the cord and attach it to the breaker box locking hole, every box has one. The lock will keep the ends from being pulled through the shackle and you could use the lock other places also.

I assumed the OP had a place to park the trailer at his property and only needed 10'.

Finding a 10' 30 amp power cord with molded plugs AND a right angle female is a tall order.

Exactly! I'm not sure if I'd rather have the 10' cord without the 90 degree connection, or just go with a good 30 footer that has a 90.

Thanks for all the responses,
