FYI here’s something I wrote about GFCI theory which includes some simple diagrams. They’re really very simple once you understand the basics of operation. https://www.rvtravel.com/rv-electric...g-gfci-part-i/

I don’t have all the details yet, but another Airstream has burned. Seems as if it was in storage and caught on fire. Completely melted.

Sorry for highjacking my own thread, but can this be electrical?

No sign of that fire in an online search. Do you know the location?

Peter

PS -- No recent updates on that Fire thread FWIW:

Tod Endl (Arkansaw) from Airstream addicts posted the pictures. It is his trailer. I don't know the year or model. I am not on Facebag but my wife caught this last night.

I don't know if it is OK to post his pictures here so I won't.

Edit: 2005 international and he had problems with refrigerator not cooling.

Thanks.

Posted at about 8 PM last night +/-. Over 300 comments. I am not a member of Fa[r]ceBook, so I won't dig any deeper, however his posting appears to be viewable by non-members. Maybe a malfunction of the fridge propane valve?

Thanks again,

Peter

Do surge protectors typically also offer ground fault protection?

I’m not sure I understand the question but perhaps you could start a new thread and I’ll try to answer your surge protector questions there.

Hi

No, at least not in the sense that a ground fault outlet does. They do normally check for an "open neutral" condition which is not normally called a ground fault.

WBCCI Int’l Rally Using Electric Daisy Chain?

I was reading the June, 2019 Blue Beret. Page 39 / Rally reminder #22 states that the 30 Amp service provided will be (electric daisy chain).
Am I reading this correctly? If so, it would appear the same situation could occur that happened at Alumapalooza. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable than I can weigh in on the electric situation at the event. Item #21 also state they want to avoid overloading the temporary power grid.

We all followed the rules when we arrived. The wiring was wired wrong. Should they have followed the rules and had the wiring inspected as most community government would require? Would you like me to hire an electrician to check the wiring before we plugged in?

I will follow the rules next year as I will be in the generator group. I can control my environment there unless I still need to figure out if I need to bond my generator!

We have been to a large region 3 rally at Doswell and everything was done right, very professional. Can't say whether it will be done the same way for this bigger rally.

Everyone will have dedicated 30A connections, so this is not the 3A daisy chain experienced at Alumapalooza. I believe they are asking for fridges and water heaters to be on propane to make sure there is enough power for 700+ air conditioners. I assume the "daisy chain" comment suggests some 30A extension cords may be used, but that is a guess since I am not involved with the electrical committee.
