Microwave Plug

We just got a 2007 27FB Classic. It has a GE microwave hanging above the stove, with a plug in the cabinet above - where there is also an outlet. However, when we plug it into that outlet and try to use it (with the inverter on), it will only run for about 30 seconds. It won't come on at all unless the inverter is on. I talked to the previous owner and he said the only way he could get the microwave to work was to run an extension cord out of the cabinet above and plug it into the outlet beside the sink and stove - and only when plugged in to external power. I understand the external power requirement, although the RV America guy tried to tell me the microwave would work with the solar panel. My question is why doesn't the thing work from the outlet in the cabinet beside the plug? Duh! dana

I have an '07 27FB Classic and the microwave came installed in the middle slide out pantry section next to the cooktop. It is plugged into an outlet at the rear of the cabinet that has an interlock switch that makes the outlet hot only when the drawer is out. I have to wonder if a PO or a dealer replaced original microwave and relocated it? All the literature I've seen for the '07 27FB shows only the microwave in the slide out drawer.

Your description of the inverter behavior makes me think the inverter doesn't have the capacity to run that microwave. Mine didn't come with an inverter. It also sounds like a PO wanted a larger microwave and the ability to operate it without shore power and ended up with an unworkable combination.

Is there not a vent hood above the stove? If not, is there an external vent cover outside where the vent hood might have been?
