Looks like a burnt spot

Hello I was camping this weekend and when as i was unplugging our power cord I noticed it had a black burnt spot on one of the terminals on the plug in cord end (see photo to follow) Any idea what that could be caused from. Thanks
Mark

Often that's caused by heavy current demand when the connection inside the socket is less than ideal.

Hi, poor [loose] connection with a moderate to heavy load. I never like a receptacle that can hardly hold my cord while plugged in. If the 30 Amp receptacle is broken or too loose, I can use my 50 dog bone on a lesser used tighter fitting receptacle. Two other choices is to have the bad receptacle replaced. [I had that done once] Or to change sights.

Hi, your picture shows the trailer end of your cord. When you connected it did you make that twist before you tightened the nut? Make sure that the trailer receptacle is clean and replace the cable end or complete cable. [I would just replace the end] Hopefully the trailer connection isn't burnt or damaged.

You could carry a small spray can of contact cleaner and use it before making electrical connections to make sure there is no insulating dirt in the connection.

Thanks everyone for the input. So at this point I should replace connector end and check trailer side for damage and use cleaner from here on out?

Also a good idea to make sure the circuit breaker is turned off before connecting or disconnecting the cord.

Thanks again for all the assistance. Bought a new plug/cord and camped all weekend and the plug looked great afterwards. Thanks again and God Bless.
