Lights without shore power

Hello Folks,

Do not laugh to hard but I am a NEW AS owner picked the unit up yesterday and while the dealership did give the DW and I a very good walk through I do not recall how to get power to an interior light when not connected to shore power. I know that the batteries are not meant to run lights for an extended period of time but just want to know where the master switch is to accomplish this task. Model is a 2012 25' FC. I have looked at every pamphlet, video, etc. that came with the unit to no avail.

Where is the Master switch or what is the trick

Inside, beside your entry door their should be a toggle switch that says use or store that will allow battery power to the inside. Toggle it to use

Also there may be a row of toggle switches next to it and one will say ceiling, that needs to be on. Also in other end of AS, probably near lavatory sink, perhaps below eye level will be another ceiling light switch. Once these are on you should be able to turn lights on at individual fixtures

Mine is near the door, a toggle switch that says "USE" and "Store".

I did notice the switch to the right of the door that you describe and have pushed the use side of the switch however nothing changes did not check the one you describe in the lavatory. Have a full 12V at the batterys ???
Am at work right now but will check the lavatory switch when I get home.

You are welcome. And, welcome to the forums!

The red LED on the panel in question should be on any time you are plugged into shore power. It should also light when the the switch is in the "use" position.

It must be in the "use" position to charge the batteries.

Could be wrong but I am not to sure that when I initially pushed to the "USE" position that I got a light regardless of position "USE" or "Shore" does this tell us anything ?

If the trailer is plugged into power, that is normal. If the trailer has sat on the dealer lot for some time, it may be the batteries are just dead. I would leave it plugged in and the switch in the use position for a couple days and see if things stabilize.

Thanks for the reply, batteries are showing full charge however I will give that a shot and see what happens.

One more note. The batteries will show a full charge as long as the trailer is plugged into shore power, no matter their true condition.

The little colored lights on the "control panel" will lie a little about batteries. The lights are measuring only voltage at the battery. With the trailer plugged in, and the inboard convertor trying to charge the batteries, the control panel will see the charging voltage and indicate a full battery.

Battery voltage was measured directly from the battery compartment, converter fuses checked all ok there, Battery disconnect light regardless of position Use/Store does not light. I hagve NOT connected any shore power through this entire process because ALL was OK at the dealership in regards to lights etc. when plugged into shore power

problem only relates to the 12V side..........

Well got a call from the Dealer and they said the problem was a 5 amp fuse ????????????? I asked where in the heck is it I looked at the entire converter panel they were all OK.
Service department said it was under the dinette I had no idea there were fuses under the dinette !! !

Anyway it is still at the dealer ready to go but I can not pick it up until this Saturday.

NEVER be afraid to ask any question in the Forum. Would venture to guess ALL of us have a STEEP learning curve after our 1st Airstream purchase. I'm still climbing that mountain.....
