Lights

Heres the problem The unit is plugged in I have power in all the outlets. The battery meter even with the unit plugged in does not move The overhead lights do not come on. Is it possible that the battery is so bad and wont take a charge, which in turn affects the interior lights? all fuses are good and the brakers are not tripped when lamp is plugged into the socket it will work.

If you have the original Univolt converter it may be bad.
Some of the vintage trailers have a fuse in the negative side of the DC circuit. It is a stand alone fuse which is normally mounted on the skin of the coach. It is usually only in the negative battery circuit.
If you have a meter. Check the voltage at the fuse panel.
If the Univolt isn't humming. It's not working.
You could connect a battery charger to the fuse panel. Just as a test to see what works.

All of the items you have listed as working are 120 volt AC devices. They only work if you are on shore power or generator power.
The items that are not working are 12 volt DC powered. Which means they are powered by the battery or the converter.
Since it appears that none of the 12 volt equipment is working. You are obviously not getting battery or converter power.
Have you checked for voltage at the 12 volt fuse panel?
Have you tried a battery charger?
How did you check the fuses?
Are the larger fuses tight in the holders?
Have you tried replacing the larger fuses with new fuses? Making sure they make good contact in the holders.
Can you post pics of the fuse panel? We could tell you where to place the meter leads to check for voltage.

The fuse panel is part of the Univolt.
You say you have a second fuse panel?
The use of a volt meter is pretty straight forward. There are many here that can show you how to use it.
A meter is a valuable tool for those of us with trailers.
Unless you plan to travel soon. The money spent on a battery would be better spent on a new converter.
You can operate all of the 12 volt devices with converter power as long as you have shore power. A battery is only needed to travel or camp without AC power.
Pics would help us help you.

Well I put a new battery in and guess what all the lights work! the converter is happily humming away I guess It was the dead battery it was installed 10/2010. well beyond its useful life. I always believed that you start with the least expensive repair and go from there. The battery was $95.00 and a new converter ranges from $175.00 to $ 350.00 plus installation. Again thank for all your feed back.

At some point in time you will want to replace the univolt with a good 3-stage converter charger. I use a PD9245. If you don't, in short order you will be buying another battery as the univolt is a full throttle on all the time charger and it will "cook" your new battery in short order. Until you change it out make sure you check battery water often-once a week or every two weeks.

There are two fuse panels one located in the "rear service center" and the other in the converter
