LED Tail Lights on a 64 Overlander

I found LED lights that would fit inside the Bargman 99 lenses on our 64 Overlander. The lights were Grote 53432. There's more information and photos here. http://chatt.hdsb.ca/~davidsong/LED/LEDConversion.html

So Glencoombe, did your little oriental friends ever come back with a design? I don't really care for the bulbs I have as they are only 1.5 inch across and would like a wider light source.

Revive this thread! - Seems a bit ......

Hi all -

Took another Forum members advice and got several Clearance Lights ( both Red and Yellow) from L.E.D. - R- US inc. - They are on the web at www.LED-R-US.com. Dan Cimino, the President, of the company sent his card ( for what that is worth!). Their costs were very reasonable and the units LOOK GREAT and they are an exact replacement for the exhisting units on the trailer.

My 2 cents -

Axel

Have you tried getting hold of the company directly? They may have LED replacements for your coach sitting on a shelf.

Follow-up

Hi Terry,
I ordered my 4 taillight conversion from David Tidmore/AS dealer in TX. As other members found, service was great and David knows what he is talking about. Mine came with all the blue crimpy connectors. Install was a snap and the results stunning. Marker lights are next.

As an update to the Korean connection .... NO. The folks over there are working on other high volume projects and have had no time to pay attention to my (our) desires.
I've replaced all my markers and love the look, brightness of the replacements.
I was eyeballing some LED modules at the truck wash / chrome shop locally but didn't have time to go into it that day but will update you all on what I find.
I just replaced my RH tail lights...again... this past weekend and do want to go ahead with the conversion of my tail lights.

Hi Glen,
Question, do your LED marker lites have 1 or 2 wires.

hi led seekers.....

well no korean supplier.....bummer.

now for led marker lights.....bright ones.......

that fit the teardrops.....who's got'em???

here is another option to consider for brake/tail light leds........

http://www.pickupspecialties.com/LED..._light_bar.htm

i just added this to my truck....it's pretty cool and brite!
running light
brake light
directional light and
flashers....

the unit uses a standard 4 pin connector but can also be wired directly into the tail light wiring...

these could be mounted on the skin or bumper or rear drawer lip...using the supplied auto grade double stick....

they are made by www.pacerperformance.com and stocked by many truck aftermarket shops...

i'll post pics soon....

cheers

Artlink, I'm not sure I can answer your question...It's been a while since I installed them. If memory serves me they had one wire. Ground is picked up via the screw mount. Of course the big selling feature is that they are a sealed unit with 13 led's. They're bright and a great replacement for the originals. Check back in this thread and you'll find the vendor.

While our baby was in our local dealer's shop for some warranty work and other mods, we had the LEDs installed as an additional safety feature. They illuminate a split second quicker than the standar bulbs and are a brilliant starburst pattern. We were concerned that anyone following closely behind us would not see our illuminated tailights when they are in direct sunlight. We've also added the reflective tape along the rear bumper that you see on the big rigs.

confusion has not been cleared for me

I've got some dim lights on my 1970 safari. so I'm trying to figure out this LED solution and it appears most of the info I have found is for the classic square lights or the wedding cake bargman variety.

I've got those three round lights on each rear corner. is there an off the shelf truck led light solution for mine? or is this the $25 product from inland rv that I've read about? I have searched and read all previous posts from this thread and am still confused..... but then it is monday and I am likely not up to full operating speed.

I did just order replacements for all my double bull markers from superbrightleds.com

thanks
