LED *Power On* lamp replacement

My power on light keeps burning out since I keep the trailer plugged in all the time.

The bulb is a GE 53X 11.1mm bayonet base. According to Radio Shack Cat#272-1117 it only has a 30 hour life. Although I have found other online sources that boast a 1000 hour life.

I'd like to find an LED replacement bulb so I don't have to worry about it. I found that http://www.superbrightleds.com/led_prods.htm has a lot for sale but I cannot find the 53X replacement. I emailed their tech support.

If I cannot find one, I will add a switch at the fuse box to turn power off to the lamp when at home.

If anyone knows of a source let me know. If I find one I'll report back here.

Tim:

Do you happen to know the rated voltage of the 53X light¿

The ¨power on¨ light in the ´78 Sovereign is also burnt out - measured 6.3 volts across the terminals - does anyone have a source for a long life replacement for this bulb¿

Thanks...

Not sure if this applies here, but I found that several different types that have the same base will work. It was a while ago, so don't hold me to it. As a matter of fact I thought I found the info on the superbriteled website.

The specs from the websites say 14.4 vdc at 120mA.

I found one!

I found a direct LED replacment lamp for the power on light in my '71 Safari.

It a little pricey at $8.50 + $7.50 shipping.

It's a high brightness white led lamp that is a direct replacement for the GE-53X. It is a little longer at 1.06 inches when the original is 0.94 inches. But I don't think that is going to be a problem.

It's rated at 100,000 hours life. And draws 36mA. The orignal lamp is rated at 1000 hours for a quality one (30 hours for the radio shack one) and draws 120mA.

Since I keep my trailer plugged in all the time at home, this extended bulb life is what I am looking for. Also LED's run much cooler. The part of the plastic in front of the power on lamp is a little cracked and deformed from the prolonged heat.

If anyone is interested I'll take some pics and post back how it works when it comes in.
