LED Bulbs

Just wanted to know the best place that everyone is purchasing LED replacement lights. Starting with the "Scare" light next to the door of our '73 Safari (Old bulb-1156-had melted part of the lense).

Thank you,

I used ebay and purchased directly from Hong Kong. Incremental shipping cost for more than one is negligible due to weight so I ordered 20 for the cost of two sourced domestically. That was two years and hundreds of hours of use ago, and they are all still operating just fine! I took a risk as dissatisfaction was not going to be easy to resolve but the few dollars involved seemed expendable to me.

I was also able to select the color spectrum of the LEDs. I chose "warm white" and they are a much nicer light to the eye than the bright, bluish light most offer domestically.

I try and keep our local RV shops in business. They are a bit pricy but one here and there keeps the small guys open.

Yeah, but a bushel buys them a night out on the town and my wife would like to do that.

We as "small guy's" appreciate the local business. We own a Garden Center (20 years). Yes we get a night out on the town every now and then. When we do, we go to the other "small guy's" so we don't have to order replacement bulbs direct from China. They do it, and we buy from them. Or if I can get what I need that is made in America, I'll do it. Personally would not want my town with just a wallymart and a few gas stations and the employees being former business owners...

For viewers who haven't researched prices, per bulb LED domestics bought individually are around $18-20 and HK are $3-4. I ultimately swapped 25 bulbs for $79 (inc. Int'l shipping) versus ~$460 (without taxes). Patriotism does have a price and I am glad there are those who can afford it.

We've had great luck using these as our reading lamps. They can be on the wall behind us and still be able to read. They are a great light, but are a bit high priced. I posted this in case the specs are helpful for choosing lights that really work.

We gave away our first set of LED reading lamps -- there just wasn't enough light.

I get my LED bulbs from Dan at LED4rv.com. He has a good selection of fixtures too.
