Dumb question

What's the difference between a converter and an inverter? Besides "con" turning to "in".

A CONverter converts 110V to 12V.
An Inverter inverts 12V to 110V.

Is this a correct assessment? Is my heater really a 12V unit?
Debateable after seeing the picture of the switch on yours. My unit is most defintely a 12 volt unit. Hopefully someone that is more familar with the vintage of trailer you have. I am more of a 70's guy

Actually, the heate IS a 12V unit. Says so on the front panel. I'm still confused about the extra switch wired between the heater and converter box?

It supplies 12v for the heater so it doesn't run your nonexistant battery dead.

Terry -- you're absolutely right! I'm looking at my home-made 1-line diagram, and it all makes sense. Back before the furnace switched over automatically, I guess the trailer owner needed to flip the switch manually to control 110VAC vs. 12VDC. Thanks!
