Inverter circuit question

Stock inverter went bad and I replaced it with a Samlex a brand I have had great luck in the past. No issues with install.

However, in my 2007 Safari 25FB, there are two plugs on inverter power, TV and outlet under table. TV plug works but one under table does not.

Are these home runs to the panel (wired from outlet to breaker) or are they in series all on the same run? Trying to determine best troubleshooting approach as I did not do any work in the distribution panel for this change out. I did replace my converter a month ago with a 3 stage model and that may be the issue.

Thanks,
Greg

Greg,

The inverter output should be wired to both outlets in parallel. If one works and the other doesn't remove the socket from the one that doesn't work and make sure all the connections are tight.

I run my entire trailer on inverter less the air conditioner and the battery charger on a 2,000 watt inverter.

I can’t figure why Airstream doesn’t take that route.

I agree. Why do they get to decide what circuits we feel are most important or what we want to run? Smart to keep the AC and converter out. You would be surprised how many people call wanting an inverter to run the AC.

Well in theory, a 20 minute run time could be accomplished if a person had a big enough inverter and a couple of 100 amp hour batteries....

Everyone needs a Combination voltmeter for these issues. The Samlex inverters are great.

I completely agree. My inverter operates my entire 66 Tradewind. I only have a small 5,000 btu/hr air conditioner. It should operate about 3 hours, in theory, using the two 100 AH lithium ion batteries I just installed. I will run a test next summer.

With that small of an AC, you might get some usable time running that AC from the inverter if needed but they you need a charge right away. If you plan it right can be done.
Those with the full size AC units and only 200 AH worth of batteries I think will mostly be disappointed.

We haven’t used our air conditioner in two years. Mostly it rides in the bottom of the closet. We generally camp above 3,000 ft or northern Michigan or Canada where it isn’t needed. However I am looking forward to running a test next summer to see how it does, mainly at night where the load won’t be that high and it will only run part of the time. It only draws 4.6 amps.

I recently changed my setup so that I can’t run the air conditioner on the inverter.

About two years ago I pulled in for the night and hooked up my generator plugged it in and started camping.... switched on the air...

And I’m thinking, why does my cooler sound weak? 20 minutes later all of the power fails....

When I set up my system originally I said to myself that I’ll always remember to never run the cooler on the inverter..... that night I forgot to switch from inverter to generator....

I threw my switches and everything was cool apart from my dead batteries. Anyway, that’s when I decided to make it all foolproof where a mistake like that can’t be made.
