Interior power out in half of argosy.

We finally got our Airstreams after owning 2 scamps. We love our '76 Argosy. Even after all the surprises. New toilet. New gas tanks and frame. New breakaway switch... Buying an adjustable hitch bar and trunnion for a level hookup to our new (to us) Grand Cherokee... Replacing all screens and fuzzy channels..(Thanks Bonnie at inland) Repairing a busted water pipe... Replacing lighter assembly on the water heater... Blowing out the gas line in the refer.... Realizing the ac is on its last legs (noisy)...We upholstered the sofa...Just finished new wallpaper after peeling of the contact paper. I have never had more fun.
New issues of the day are... my heater works electric not gas. Electric ignition. Overhead lights in the back won't work. I must have done something when I removed the bed light to wallpaper. Now no power in 3 lights. For the most part, I am really enjoying myself.

Is there a fuse for a set of lights? Why am I not able to get the heater working with gas?

This forum has been a big help.

It is a guess, but it sounds like you may have blown a fuse for the circuit which powers that section of the Argosy. I don't think any of that era originally had electronic spark ignition water heaters, so yours is a replacement unit. Whoever put it in may have taped onto that same rear circuit for the power to run the electronics in the DSI water heater, and without the 12 volts, it will not run. So, see if you can find the problem with that circuit, and there is a good chance the DSI water heater will run on gas.

BTW the 120 volt electric heater you apparently have in the water heater is a completely different system, with no connection to the gas side of the unit. You need to sort out some 12 volt problems I think.

The electric could be misplaced wire most are in series, possible gfi circuit button on first outlet, circuit breaker faulty, try switching on off a few times. idroba answer sounds good for the water heater if it worked before you messed with wires, if not check gas valve on, listen for solenoid to open valve at water heater.
