Hi, I have a 64 Sovereign which is undergoing a ground up restoration/retrofit. It is at a stage where it can be rewired. The lower layer of the internal skin panels have been removed as well as the fibreglass shell from where the bathroom was (rear). I'd really like not to have to take any more panels off, but I am a realist, and know it can be a false economy at times not to go the whole hog. I could run much of the wiring where it is exposed but I am worried more holes in the hoops could lower their strength.Does anyone have any helpful advice to share on this?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you will find the bulk of your wiring in the upper reaches of your ceiling out of harms way. Rewiring is always a good idea and you may want to remove the old wiring just to be sure of no shorts in your circuits. Typically a few aditional holes should not affect the strength of your supports, but if you are going to be running all new wires there may be too many holes. Sorry, but if this were my project, I would remove all the existing wiring and run everything anew from the top down. Have fun with your project and keep us all posted with pictures!

Cheers Rick and Sandi, that has pretty much accounted for my afternoon then. I thought I may have to strip it, and do'nt really have too much of a problem with it, as I want to do a good job, and it will be easier to rewire this way. I'm just going to have to psyche my self up for it! Hey, one great thing about restoring airstreams, it makes you fit! I'm attaching some pics for you to look at, hope they come through.
