How to control inverter noise

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to quiet down the buzz of an inverter ? I installed a new one in my 1972 AS and if the radio or A/C are not on the buzzing can be very annoying.

P.S - the original inverter was wrapped in insulation and covered with an aluminum box. My new inverter suggested not to cover it up, because heat would build up inside.

You could use the orignal insulated box and install a small 12VDC fan for cooling. Hole on one side for air to enter and fan as exaust on other side.

You could try adding a noise filter prior to the invertor - perhaps that would do the trick or try grounding the invertor directly to the frame if possible. The latter is what we used when installing high end car stereos and usually did the trick..

Other than replacing the inverter with a new quiet type unit, Garry's suggestion is probably the beast. Build a insulated box and get a 12 volt DC fan with thermostat to keep it cool. However a new quiet unit would probably be your best bet.
