Honda EU2000i Generator - using with Airstream

For all the reason's stated I went with the Honda 3000 pull start generator. One unit will do it all. Light enough that I can lift it into my truck. I used it in February while down in Key West but had no reason to try the AC but " THEY " say it will work. I ran it for awhile in the evenings so we could watch a movie since there was no antenna TV available.

It would replace the single-stage converter altogether.

It's a neat device but it costs about the same as a pair of 2k generators, so you have to really want that functionality to go that route.

I use 2 of these with 1500 air-heat pump. I turn the fridge And water heater to propane and it take 2000, but you need 2 Gen. To start it, turn off the Air to use Micro.

I like this set up.

To be fair, vBulletin's search (which is the software AIR Forums and lots of other sites use) is absolutely terrible. "site:airforums.com topic" typed into Google or your search engine of choice works far better.

Also, if we would do more of the sticky threads with FAQs, it would reduce the number of redundant threads. But it takes time to gather all of the info and put it in a useable format.

What are the power requirements for one of those? Ours has a microwave (no convection oven) and the EU2000 handles it just fine. We have a standalone toaster/convection oven that should work fine as well, though I don't think we've tried it.

Don't forget that generator output is affected by altitude. I can run my microwave just fine at Sea Level. At 8000 ft in Yellowstone or Mesa Verde? Forget it.

Is the EU2000i "Companion" model the best one to get as a second unit?

Any reason a "Companion" model might be less suitable be used on its own, than the regular EU2000i?

Good point, Dave. I wasn't aware of the altitude factor at all.

Go with the companion. has different plugs for the increased output and it is what it was designed for.

Mojo the Magnum Hybrid does exactly as you describe. 3 stage charge and has the ability mix battery, solar input if you have it and shore power/generator. Had it on my FC25 with solar and with a single EU2000 had no issue running a single 15K A/C unit. With good sun I could probably have run 4 hours before the batteries got to 50%. Pretty smart unit.

As a newbie and have used the forum to ask questions for which I got almost immediate answers . I think telling someone to search a web site that they are not familiar with and sift thru a lot of non useful info to find an answer is not very user friendly. I say don't click on the message if your not wanting to help the person to begin with. Just my 2 cents.
I appreciated the quick and current information I received. Also the info being told to the person posting the question is of great interest to me as a Newbie and I doubt I would be doing a search on generators without clicking on his post.

We don't mind the repeat questions because you never know where the best new idea will come from. We'll do a search and if the posts aren't real recent, we might ask the question again to see if there's something new that hasn't been covered yet. Sometimes there is sometimes there isn't. It's like a box of chocolates ....

Larry I have often used the search thread however i have found it very aggravating as it seems to take me to multiple threads that do not have the answer I am looking for. so when that happens i start a new tread

Seriously, I agree...there are so many different threads with same information; I like seeing newer threads on same subject...as someone said earlier, I might learn something new from someone who didn't see earlier posts...anyway, one thing you may consider is cost of 2 generators vs 1 larger generator? I have been eyeing the Champion 75531i...not sure it will work with 1500 AC however.... for batteries and boon docking without need for AC, our portable 80W solar from GoPower works great! We don't have microwave however....no need.

Not to get off the topic, but related, why when I search lets say "Tires" it does not put the forum results at the top? I just did it and it brought up 4-6 other forums before "tires" forum was shown? This does not seem to work like other search engines work. Am I missing something?

There is 'search' and there is 'search this', the 'search this' works per section, forum or even thread but you have to be looking at that section, forum or thread

When you drop-down the Search menu, use the blank for Google search instead of the first blank and you'll get somewhat better results. "Tires" is a much too general search term to get a useful result, IMHO. You should add more words that interest you like "brands" or "failures" or "reviews" to narrow down the results a bit.
