Honda eb2200x genny
I'm trying to determine if this will power my a/c.
Rated ampere - 16.7 A
Rated output - 2000 watts
Max output - 2200 watts
I don't know what my original a/c requires.
One page of service manual has a table for compressor Amos at low voltage:
100v - 15.4 a
110v - 12.5
120 - 10.2
Etc.

Not likely to get the compressor started with just the one generator, that's why they make the parallel kit. If you dialed in a soft start kit on the compressor and had a time delay on the fan and nothing else drawing current you might be able to run the AC on 1 2200 Honda but probably not a good idea. Best to get a bigger generator.

Hi Funki, One Honda 2000 usually won't start the air conditioners. The starting wattage will usually take two generators in parallel. They will run on one, but won't start.

Thanks for the feedback. Was hoping that my 2200 would offer a tiny bit more than the 2000 to use the a/c this summer.
Wonder if It would power a small window unit. Hummmmm

First, I don't think they make a parallel kit for EB generators.
Second, it's an EB 2200X generator, a different animal than a EU 2000.
Third, it depends on the size of your a/c.
I wouldn't give up on it yet.

Yep, it's the heavy, loud EB2200X.
And I finally found my a/c size... per the 1973 Service Manual it's 12,000 btu. I think I might give up now.... dang, bigger than I thought.
Thinking that a smaller, new window unit might work, in a pinch.

I think with the much larger engine (almost 50% larger) in the EB2200X than the EU2000i, you will have no trouble starting and running a 12000 btu A/C.

Wow - really?
I guess it can't hurt to try... any suggested precautions?

1. Make sure the carbuerator is clean. If gummed up the generator will bog down and may lose power.
2. I add a little bit of Techron (feul injector cleaner) to the fuel. Seems to help but I don't know why.
3. Don't try to run any other appliances in the trailer while running the a/c.
4. You may want to look into a "hard start" capacitor for your a/c. Optional.
While these generators are noisier than the newer inverter types, they are still considerably quieter compared to the cheap contractor type generators.

Well, today I finally got back to the Silver Olive and gave it a try...
Plugged in the trailer, started the generator and turned on the a/c (low, cool). The generator spat and sputtered and died. Then I remembered the refer and battery tender were still on. I unplugged each and gave it another try. Hallelujah! I could hear a strain on the genny but it kept up - and the a/c blew cold air. I switched the a/c fan to HI and the it still maintained.
I'm smiling. Now for the new little 2-way refer - and water pump - which I'll post in the associated boards.
Thanks for your insight.
