Help with extension cord size

Had temporary power pole installed, pole is 100 yards from my 1983, 31' sovereign. What size and type of extension cord would be safe to run that far to plug in and power my trailer?

At the trailer you will want 110 volts, 30 amps. 110 volts. Hearing "30 amps" some electricians would automatically assume 220 volts -- don't do that. Our electricians will chime in here, but you'd lose a lot carrying that over 100 yards. Let's wait for a more informed response...

How far is the pole from your panel? I had a plug installed in my garage about 80 feet from the panel and the electrician used 10 guage. Can you move the pole closer to the trailer? You will need at least 10 and possible 8. The wire size has been discussed recently in another thread.

i don't think you will find an extension cord that big unless you have "connections".

getting closer to the supply is a better idea.

Need more info. Do you have a 30 Amp or 50 Amp connection on the trailer, I guess it's 30 amps.
Do you plan to run the Air Conditioner? These are all questions that need to be answered. John H D is correct for a full load.

Can you move your rig closer? If not can you run a#2 wire cable under ground and bring it to the plug?

I think the short answer is: the same as your trailer cable. But I think you need a longer one (answer, that is) - so you will need to know what your planned load will be and figure from there.

And distance is critical - as these folks recommend, see if you can get closer, because the short answer is expensive at 100 yards.

100 yards, is 30 feet. one guage size down from standard for every fifty feet. so six guage sizes down from standard. 10 guage is standard for 30 amps.
so 8,6,4,2,0,00 the answer is 00.

How temporary?
Do you have a rural EMC or city elec. dept.? They might have some wire you could use for a temporary feed. 300 feet is a long run & will need wire size not associated with extension cords.

We have a 200 amp panel that we use as a main service and from there we take 220v service for 100 ft. (using #4 wire) to serve a secondary 100 amp panel that serves our Airstream & shelter. It is at the 100 amp panel that we convert down to 110v / 30amp breaker for the trailer.

A small 50 amp panel might work to switch from 220 to 110 for your final service to the Airstream.

100 yds is 300 ft!
the first fifty is good at 10 Guage the final answer is 0 guage to be safe.

i can't count either michelle, that is why i use the calculator.

you must be thinking 0% line drop, were you thinking aluminum or copper?

0% line drop is best. motor starts will cause a significant load and drop which is hard on the motor.
